One of my favourite little coffee shops in London has got to be Damson & Co on Brewer Street in Soho. It’s an independent coffee shop that serves some delicious brunch fare, pastries, sandwiches, teas and some pretty amazing coffee. It also doubles as an equally lovely place to venture to for a glass of wine after work and charcuterie with friends. Damson & Co only serves locally sourced British produce too – everything from the cheese boards to the seafood, which is provided daily from the Channel Fisheries. A coffee shop that doubles as a haven for food fanatics is a winner in my book. This coffee shop may be little -with only 20 covers, but mighty – making it a gem in the centre of London.
I met my friend Julia over there to catch up over brunch a few weeks ago and, as per usual, it was delightful. There’s a really cosy atmosphere in Damson. Inside, there’s a big wooden bar with bar stools and industrial light fixtures. There’s also a nice big window at the front with prime seating for people watching or just relaxing.
We ordered 2 lattés with almond milk and I love how they are presented – in small glass coffee cups atop blue and white saucers. (I am still on the hunt for a pretty set of these).
We both ordered the Smashed avocado on toasted sourdough bread with grainy mustard, chilli, and a poached egg. For avocado toast fans out there – this rendition takes the cake! Julia and I both agreed we could have easily eaten another helping, it was delicious.
We ordered a few more lattés and chatted away while Frank Sinatra played softly in the background. Damson & Co is a really great place to catch up with friends, have meetings, do some work or just relax in a quiet environment with top notch coffees and food.
