This past weekend was great. It was pretty non-stop but I got to catch up with so many friends and it felt good to reconnect after not seeing some of them for so long! My weekends, admittedly, usually aren’t this eventful and I am oftentimes so tired by the time Saturday rolls around that I love nothing more than a relaxing day at home but this weekend was different and although I am pretty flat out writing this, I am so glad that I took advantage of my time off and spent time with friends.
On Friday night, I had some of my friends from work and my bridesmaid Claire over to my flat for wine and snacks. All of us have been working so hard that having a really fun night in was just what the doctor ordered! We had fabulous red wine and ended up talking and catching up until about 2:30am. Even though we didn’t go out-out, we had a blast just relaxing in my lounge and hanging out!
On Saturday, we were feeling a bit delicate and groggy having not gone to bed until around 3am. My friend Claire crashed on my couch and after we felt somewhat human again around midday, we decided to go grab brunch at Mommi in Clapham. I’ve written about this awesome Japanese/Peruvian restaurant before when I went for dinner with Ciaran, and brunch was just as great. It’s really buzzy in there and they have a wonderful bottomless bubbly brunch – unlimited prosecco or sparkling rosé + 3 courses for £32.50 per person! We didn’t go bottomless, but it’s the perfect spot for a big group of friends! We got a few glasses of Cava, some steak & eggs and felt revived in no time.
That night, Ciaran and I went to dinner with our friends Hollie and Mark, who are getting married in June! We went to the new Mac & Wild in Devonshire Square. I am a huge fan of the original Mac & Wild in Fitzrovia – their venison chateaubriand is one of the best dishes I’ve had in my life! We feasted on the chateaubriand, truffle mac & cheese, haggis pops, and scotch eggs while catching up over their wedding plans and our wedding. We capped off our night at Cinnamon Kitchen with a few more glasses of red before making our way home! I hadn’t see them both since June, and it was really nice to catch up on everything.
On Sunday, I slept in and then went to meet my dear friend Ayushi, for brunch at Farm Girl Café in Carnaby! I finally got to try their famous rose lattes and Acai bowls. Farm Girl is a holistic and healthy Australian-inspired café serving up a range of clean dishes, which was a welcome change after a weekend of indulging! Ayushi filled me in on her exciting new company and I told her all about wedding and honeymoon. I am really glad we chose Farm Girl for our catch up, it was really cute in there and I will definitely be back for lunch – you can grab healthy sandwiches or salads to-go.
On Sunday night, Ciaran and I hung out and watched some new shows (The Night of on HBO is insane!) It was such a fantastic weekend and I am so glad I got to see so many friends that I haven’t had a chance to see since getting back from honeymoon. I feel so lucky to have some pretty fantastic friends and this was one of those weekends that reminded me of that.
What did you get up to this weekend? I hope you had a fabulous one! xx
