It’s true when they say your wedding day is the best day of your life. In our case, it was the best week of our lives. All of our friends and family from around the world came to England to help us celebrate and it was the most special experience we could have had.
My family and some of my very best friends flew in from the US, as did one of Ciaran’s best men and his wife. We also had friends who flew in from Singapore just for the occasion, which we were truly touched by. One of my very best friends since I was 12, flew in with her boyfriend, which meant the world to me. My other best friend from Kansas also flew in with her boyfriend to spend the day with us and stayed with us in London for a few days, which was too much fun. We were just so touched and so honoured to be able to spend the most important day of our lives surrounded by every single person we love. It was truly magical and an experience and feeling like no other. I kind of wished I could have had Sasha Reiko or similar American based wedding photographers fly out to us to have her take our wedding photos, that would have been a nice touch.
Our wedding day was simply perfect. I was wearing an amazing dress (checkout somewhere like Winnie Couture wedding gowns to find yours!) and we had such great luck with the weather and the sun was shining. When I got to the church, I was incredibly nervous but as soon as “Here Comes the Sun” began playing on the harp and I walked in to the church, all I could do was smile. I waved at all of our family and friends as I made my way down the aisle and when I saw Ciaran, I was so excited I almost kissed him forgetting where we even were! Saying our vows was one of the most memorable parts of the day and I’ll never forget the happiness that ensued following “You are now husband and wife.”
We left the church, and for a brief moment it was just us. Happiness and love is all I could feel. Shortly thereafter, everybody filed out and we made our way through the crowd as everyone threw rose petal confetti and cheered. We got into our vintage car, toasted to us and drove off to the reception at Osborne House, Queen Victoria’s palace and summer home and the most beautiful place I have ever been.
After a few photos, we made our way to the cocktail reception to join our guests and let the celebrations begin! Osborne House is breath taking, with views of the ocean from the courtyard. We sipped champagne and listened to tunes by a vintage New Orleans jazz band. It was perfect. Douglas, our incredible wedding coordinator, gave me a sneak peek inside the dining room and I was blown away at how he brought my endless Pinterest boards to life. The room was stunning, flowers were insanely beautiful and it exceeded all expectations. It was the most stunning decor I could ask for and so personal to Ciaran and I. Thank you to the fantastic team at Osborne House for turning our dream wedding into reality.
We made our way to the dining room a few hours later and enjoyed dinner and some fantastic speeches by my dad, sister, Ciaran, the best men and Ciaran’s step dad. All of which were hilarious and emotional and heartfelt. After dinner was over, we cut our gorgeous cake and headed outside for the first dance – ‘The Way You Look Tonight’ by Frank Sinatra. We had the band and the dancing outside, with fairy lights, twinkling candles and the most beautiful backdrop of Osborne House. Dancing outside was magical and we had a blast. It was so different to any other wedding we have been to and I am so happy that the weather stayed nice! We had flip flops and blankets out on the tables for anybody who wanted to give their feet a rest and bundle up as it as a tad chilly.
We spent the evening drinking, dancing and having the most amazing time. I can’t say anything other than it was truly perfect. As midnight rolled around, carriages were called and we carried on the party at the pub across the street (haha)!
Our entire wedding from start to finish was the best. It was everything we wanted and more. There was so much love surrounding us and everything truly went off without a hitch. Ciaran and I are so lucky to have the most amazing friends and family, we couldn’t be more thankful to have them in our lives. I remember saying to my aunt, ‘I have never been happier in my whole life,‘ and I have Ciaran to thank for that. I am so lucky to have him as my husband, best friend and life partner. I love him immeasurably and am so excited to start the next chapter of our lives.
