When life gets stressful and tense, sometimes there’s nothing better than to switch off and treat yourself to a day of relaxation. Last week, I headed over to Thai Square Spa in Trafalgar Square for a morning of some much-needed R&R.
From the moment I stepped into the spa, I knew it was going to be a lovely experience. The receptionist happily greeted me and handed me a soft robe to change into before leading me down an opulent staircase to a dark and luxurious cavern, where I was offered herbal tea to sip on and relax before my massage began.
The entire spa is designed with a mix of Thai, Roman and Turkish influences and I found the décor to be stunning. The spa boasts grand gold murals, beautiful statues and colourful paintings adorning the stone walls. It is a very soothing and peaceful environment and as I kicked back on the large, comfy lounge chairs, I began to feel a lot more zen. My masseuse came out and greeted me and we headed into the treatment room.
Thai Square Spa specialises in number of different body massage treatments, with everything from an Oriental Foot Massage to Botanical Body Wraps. I decided to go for the Thai Herbal Healer one hour Body Massage after reading rave reviews about it. When I’m stressed, my lower back tends to ache and the Thai Herbal Healer is the best to soothe stiff muscles.
My masseuse got to work, using Thai herbal poultice, which contains a variety of therapeutic Thai herbs and spices. She started with my feet, calves and legs followed by working out the knots in my back and shoulders and arms and topped it off with a head massage. As I listened to the soft meditation music, I could feel my stress melting away. She used a number of techniques and laid on the pressure, which was perfect to ease the tension in my back. The hour went by in a flash and I felt so much more relaxed and happy afterwards. The masseuse I had was fantastic and I will definitely be back for more treatments in the future.
I enjoyed another cup of tea and relished a few more moments of sheer tranquility in the dimly lit cavern. It was really nice to switch off and enjoy a morning of peace in such a serene and beautiful environment. I highly recommend heading to Thai Square Spa if you’re looking for a relaxing, stress-busting treatment. After all, it’s always nice to treat yourself!
