2017 has been the best year of my life and I am so sad to see it come to an end! It’s going to be really hard to top but I am looking forward to all of the amazing adventures we’ve got planned in 2018. 2017 was super special and incredibly eventful – we had the most magical wedding followed by an insane honeymoon in the Maldives, I got to see my family and all of my friends from the US not once, but twice, and I have had a blast with all of my London gal pals and friends throughout the year. This year has basically been a really phenomenal non-stop party and we’re ending it on a high note this evening with dinner and a party with all of our friends. As we ring in 2018, I thought I’d say so long to 2017 with a recap of all the highlights and share with you what I am most exited for in the new year.
I surprised Ciaran with a trip to Prague for his birthday in January and it was breathtakingly beautiful. Blankets of snow covered the town and with all of the gothic architecture, it felt as though we were in a fairytale. I loved walking around the town, trying all of the Eastern European delicacies like Chimney Cakes, and drinking far too many pints of Pilsner! It was a blast and really fun to travel to a new part of the world.
THE HEN DO!
My best friends planned my Hen Party and I had an absolute blast!!! It was the BEST way to kick off the wedding festivities and celebrate! We went to a vineyard in Chichester, stayed in gorgeous hotel in Portsmouth and then went for a really fun night out on the town. I couldn’t have asked for a better time or for better friends! 🙂
Our wedding was the biggest highlight of the year! 🙂 It’s a day I wish I could do over and over again because it truly was so perfect. It’s true when they say your wedding day is the best of your life. I can’t even express how much joy it brings me to look back on all of our photos, the video and even listening to our playlist. Being surrounded by all of our friend and family and the love that we felt is indescribable. I feel so lucky and blessed to have met Ciaran and am so looking forward to all the good times we’ve got ahead.
Our honeymoon in the Maldives was pure bliss. We headed there a few days after our wedding and it is as close to heaven as I can possibly imagine. Everyday, we took naps on the beach, swam in the crystal clear waters, went kayaking, snorkelled in the mornings, ate a lot of amazing fresh fish, drank and danced in the evening, made some lovely Maldivian friends and enjoyed some much needed peace and relaxation after over a year of wedding planning! I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. On our last evening, we went to one of the world’s only underwater restaurants called 5.8 at Hurawalhi Island Resort, which was a magical experience and one that I highly recommend doing if you get a chance! The food was insanely good and being 5.8 meters below sea level, surrounded by fish, turtles, and marine life was breathtaking. The Maldives is a really special place that I’ll always hold close to my heart 🙂
NEW YORK FOR THANKSGIVING
Heading to New York City for Thanksgiving to see my has become a little tradition of ours and one that I hope continues in 2018! It was amazing to see my family twice in one year and I got to see one of my oldest and best friend and her boyfriend for dinner! They came across the pond for the wedding, so it was so special to also be able to see them twice! 🙂
It has been literally the BEST year with so many amazing memories, I really don’t know how 2018 will beat it, but we really do have so much to look forward to! We’re celebrating Ciaran’s 30th birthday in a few short weeks, a lot of our great friends are getting married this summer and I can’t wait for their weddings, we’re travelling to Singapore and Bali in March for nearly 3 weeks (!!!), I am heading back to NYC in May for a few days, my older sister is coming to visit in London quite a few times, and we’re hopefully planning another holiday somewhere exciting at the end of the year. 2018 will be the first year Ciaran and I can really relax and unwind as it’s the first in 3 years we don’t have anything to do (no wedding planning, no looking for a flat, no visa planning, etc) so I am really looking forward to having more free time to spend travelling, with friends, blogging, exercising, anything!
What are you most excited for in 2018? What do you have planned? Let me know! Wishing everyone a fantastic New Year’s and a happy, healthy 2018!
